Supporting Village and Rural Development, Bank Jatim & Kemendes PDTT Collaborate in Asean SOMRDPE Indonesia 2023

YOGYAKARTA, July 26, 2023. The Back To Back Meeting of the Senior Official Meeting on Rural Development and Poverty Eradication (SOMRDPE) Indonesia 2023 has been held. SOMRDPE is a meeting attended by senior officials representing all ASEAN member countries to enhance cooperation and exchange experiences by utilizing digital technology advances in rural development planning and poverty eradication.

In this case, the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration (Kemendes PDTT) is the focal point for ASEAN RDPE (Rural Development and Poverty Eradication). However, the Ministry is not alone. It is collaborating with the Association of Regional Development Banks (Asbanda) for the success of this major event.

Bankjatim also participated as one of the parts in SOMRDPE Indonesia 2023. In this activity, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Directorate General of Village and Rural Development of the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration with bankjatim regarding the facilitation of banking services of regional development banks in order to support the acceleration of development and empowerment of rural and rural communities.

Located at Sheraton Mustika Hotel Yogyakarta, this cooperation agreement was signed by Director General of Village and Rural Development Sugito and SEVP Consumer Banking bankjatim Hermita on Tuesday (25/7).

President Director of bankjatim Busrul Iman explained, the purpose of this cooperation agreement is to support the acceleration of development and empowerment of rural and rural communities in East Java. "With this cooperation agreement, we and Kemendes PDTT will synergize programs, promote village superior products and / or joint tourism villages, and increase capacity in order to improve the welfare of the community," he explained.

In addition, bankjatim has a fairly extensive network so that it can be at the forefront to partner with villages throughout East Java. "BPD is an inseparable part of the regional government program where we are mandated to always contribute actively to encourage the pace of the regional economy. So, bankjatim really welcomes Asbanda's participation in this activity," explained Busrul.

The role of bankjatim towards ASEAN SOMRDPE activities does not stop there. Bankjatim also included its fostered MSMEs in the series of events. There are 6 MSMEs involved in the exhibition activities held on Wednesday (26/7) entitled ASEAN Rural Culture Expo in the Framework of ASEAN Identity. Among others, various small foods from Sekapuk Village, wood products from Jember called Kayukayuku, Delta Raya Furniture/Manufacturer and Exporter from Sidoarjo, Luwak Dampit Coffee from Kepanjen, Tenun Bandoel from Kediri, and Ginger Gajah Ponorogo from Ponorogo.

Located in Tebing Breksi Yogyakarta, present at the review of the booth of bankjatim Assisted MSME partners, namely the Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Abdul Halim Iskandar together with SEVP Consumer Banking bankjatim Hermita.

All of this proves that bankjatim is committed to being ready to provide full support for regional tourism development efforts in East Java, be it through support for MSMEs or other tourism support. Because, the development of tourism and MSMEs like this will provide a positive economic impact in East Java.

On the other hand, Busrul added, the Ministry has also selected 3 Tourism Villages as Indonesia's representative delegates in the ASEAN SOMRDPE Asean Network Village activities. Of the three villages, one of them is Sekapuk Village which is located in Gresik Regency, East Java.

"Incidentally, Sekapuk Village is bankjatim assisted so we are obliged to provide support in the form of providing the facilities needed at this event. Hopefully this meeting can open up great hopes for villages and MSMEs in Indonesia, especially East Java, to build a global network and penetrate the international arena, "explained Busrul.
