JAKARTA, December 12, 2024. PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim) has significantly paved the way to strengthen its Bank Business Group (KUB) at the close of 2024. On Thursday (12/12), Bank Banten officially became the third bank to undergo the KUB process with bankjatim. This milestone was marked by the signing of a Shareholders' Agreement (SHA) at the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel Ballroom, Jakarta. The agreement was signed by bankjatim President Director Busrul Iman and the Acting Governor of Banten, Al Muktabar.
In addition to the SHA, a Compliance Deed was signed by Busrul Iman and Bank Banten President Director Muhammad Busthami. The ceremony was witnessed by the Acting Governor of East Java, Adhy Karyono, and high-ranking officials from the Financial Services Authority (OJK).
Strategic Synergy and Economic Impact
Acting Governor Adhy Karyono emphasized that the banking sector is a primary driver in providing financial access and investment to support East Java's economy. While he acknowledged the stiff competition and evolving regulations, he noted that these challenges create massive opportunities for KUB.
”Through KUB, we can leverage synergy to create new innovations in banking products and services, particularly digital banking services that reach the wider community,” Adhy stated. He further noted that KUB would play a vital role in financing regional strategic infrastructure projects, enhancing East Java's national and international competitiveness.
Expanding the Holding Company Vision
Beyond Bank Banten, bankjatim has already signed SHAs with Bank NTB Syariah and Bank Lampung, while currently exploring similar plans with Bank NTT and Bank Sultra.
Busrul Iman highlighted that bankjatim is adapting to national financial dynamics by aiming for exponential growth as a Holding Company.”Our capacity to collaborate with five BPDs reinforces our positioning. We have the fundamental capability to lead this group toward synergy, efficiency, and competitiveness, aiming for our vision as the No. 1 BPD in Indonesia,” Busrul added.
