JAKARTA, November 21, 2024. PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim) continues to achieve remarkable milestones. On Thursday evening (21/11), bankjatim successfully secured the Gold Rank at The Asia Sustainability Reporting Rating (ASRRAT) 2024. Held at the Raffles Hotel Jakarta, this prestigious accolade was received directly by the President Director of bankjatim, Busrul Iman. Organized by the National Center for Corporate Reporting (NCCR) in collaboration with the Institute of Certified Sustainability Practitioners (ICSP), the event featured 70 participating companies and organizations. This year's theme, "Enhanced Transparency and Accountability for Sustainable Business," underscored the critical role of transparency and accountability in driving long-term sustainability.

Busrul expressed his deepest gratitude for the recognition bestowed upon bankjatim. He stated that the award is a direct result of the company's strategic steps and commitment to implementing sustainability principles within its business operations to preserve the environment and social well-being in the long term. ”We are certainly proud of this achievement. It demonstrates that bankjatim’s sustainability reports are consistent in contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We hope this Gold Rank recognition serves as further motivation for us to continuously achieve our corporate performance targets,” he asserted.

According to Busrul, the Gold Rank is tangible evidence that bankjatim integrates sustainable business practices as a core reference in guiding the company's strategic expansion. ”In conducting its business, bankjatim consistently maintains a balance across Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects. The application of ESG principles ensures that corporate operations remain sustainable and continue to deliver positive performance,” he explained.

In terms of financial performance, as of the third quarter of 2024, bankjatim’s total assets reached IDR 106.63 trillion. Furthermore, credit disbursement for the same period stood at IDR 62.19 trillion, marking a 20.13% (YoY) increase. Additionally, the utility of JConnect services saw massive growth; as of Q3 2024, JConnect Mobile recorded 756,587 users, a 27.35% (YoY) increase, while transaction nominals reached IDR 5.63 trillion, surging 53.23% (YoY).

The Chairman of the NCCR Supervisory Board, Professor Bambang Permadi Soemantri Brodjonegoro, noted in an online address that the 2024 Global Corporate Sustainability Report (OECD) highlights how improved sustainability reporting can better mitigate risks and enhance customer trust. ”The current sustainability landscape increasingly prioritizes businesses with clear actions and goals. Furthermore, a 2023 Morgan Stanley report shows that 85% of individual customers are interested in sustainable investments with companies that are honestly committed to sustainability,” he remarked.

Darwin, Chairman of the NCCR, also described a significant transformation in sustainability reporting practices. What began as a niche practice is now a global business standard. "The trend for sustainability reporting is strengthening. KPMG data shows that 75% of the world's largest companies have implemented it. In Indonesia, mandatory reporting further encourages companies to be more transparent and accountable regarding social and environmental impacts. The emergence of global standards such as the ISSB (International Sustainability Standard Board) further reinforces this trend, paving the way toward a sustainable corporate future," he concluded.
