JAKARTA, November 15, 2024. PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim) President Director Busrul Iman has been successfully named "The Best CEO" in the category of Outstanding International Banking Activities/Remittance Transactions at the TOP CEO Indonesia Awards 2024. Held at the Pullman Grand Central Bandung, the prestigious accolade—organized by Tempo and IDN Financials—was symbolically received by bankjatim’s Corporate Secretary, Wioga Adhiarma Aji, on Friday evening (15/11).

The appreciation was awarded as Busrul is credited with successfully driving the growth of international banking transactions under his leadership. He was further lauded for his ability to capture significant remittance opportunities, an achievement of note for a regional development bank. ”We express our deepest gratitude for this recognition. This award serves as a powerful catalyst for us to continue innovating in our products and services to ensure the comfort of all our customers, while supporting our vision to become the number one Regional Development Bank (BPD) in Indonesia,” Busrul stated.

Busrul added that bankjatim is currently aggressively expanding JConnect Remittance to broaden its international banking business potential, specifically to increase Incoming Remittance transaction volumes. Currently, bankjatim facilitates incoming remittance services from two primary corridors: Malaysia and Hong Kong. ”JConnect Remittance is a tangible manifestation of our commitment to facilitating fund transfers from countries where Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) are stationed back to Indonesia, which directly boosts foreign exchange reserves in East Java. We hope JConnect Remittance becomes a key driver in increasing Current Account Savings Account (CASA) through the savings of migrant workers, while simultaneously strengthening our corporate image as a bank that truly cares for the migrant worker community,” he asserted.

East Java remains the province with the highest number of overseas migrant workers in Indonesia. According to 2023 data from the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP2MI), there were 68,089 migrant workers from East Java. Bankjatim has strategically capitalized on this potential, evidenced by the performance of its trade finance and remittance products, which grew by over 200% in 2023. Specifically, bankjatim recorded a 271.45% surge in remittance transactions handled, totaling IDR 2.76 trillion. Meanwhile, the company’s export and import transaction growth increased by 108.85%, reaching IDR 302.47 billion.

Wahyu Dhyatmika, President Director of PT Info Media Digital (Tempo.co), noted that the Top CEO Indonesia Awards are a collaborative initiative between Tempo and IDN Financials. These two media entities synergize through Indeks52, a ranking of issuers with stellar performance in the capital market. Publicly listed companies and CEOs on Indeks52, along with other issuers on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), are meticulously monitored by the joint media team to identify those deserving of recognition. “Annually, Tempo and IDN Financials host two major award events: the Issuer Appreciation Night in the middle of the year and the Top CEO Indonesia Awards at the end of the year,” he concluded.
