Preventing Stunting: Bank Jatim Delivers CSR for Formula Milk Procurement to Jombang Regency Government.

JOMBANG, December 12, 2024. In an effort to prevent stunting, PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim) has handed over Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) assistance to the Jombang Regency Government in the form of formula milk procurement for toddlers. Held at the Jombang Regency Pavilion, the CSR distribution was symbolically handed over by bankjatim’s Director of IT & Digital, Zulhelfi Abidin, to the Acting Regent of Jombang, Teguh Narutomo, on Thursday (12/12).
Zulhelfi stated that the formula milk procurement assistance provided by bankjatim is expected to reduce stunting cases among toddlers in Jombang Regency, prevent the occurrence of stunting, and provide additional nutritional intake for malnourished toddlers. Formula milk was selected due to its essential content of protein, iron, and nutrients vital for children's growth and development.
Furthermore, according to Zulhelfi, nutritional issues in toddlers remain a relatively high public health concern in Indonesia. Stunting is not merely a matter of physical height; its more severe impacts affect an individual’s quality of life, including delays in cognitive and motor abilities as well as metabolic disorders in adulthood. Therefore, bankjatim is taking an active part in supporting government programs to prevent and reduce stunting rates while supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
”As the largest Regional-Owned Enterprise (BUMD) in East Java, bankjatim has a social responsibility to contribute to stunting reduction. Through this formula milk procurement, bankjatim not only supports government programs in preventing stunting but also participates in improving the quality of Indonesian human resources to be strong and excellent for a better future through nutritional improvement," Zulhelfi emphasized.
Meanwhile, Teguh Narutomo expressed his deepest gratitude to bankjatim for the synergy established in supporting government programs. He emphasized that stunting prevention cannot be achieved by the government alone; all parties must collaborate and synergize to combat stunting. ”Therefore, we are very grateful that bankjatim has contributed to fighting stunting in Jombang. We hope this cooperation continues and brings blessings to everyone,” he concluded.
