Fulfilling Corporate Social Responsibility to the Community: Bank Jatim Simultaneously Distributes CSR to Two Regency Governments.

GRESIK, December 18, 2024. PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim) has once again handed over Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) assistance as a form of the company's social responsibility towards the environment. On Wednesday (18/12), bankjatim officially handed over CSR to the Resource Centre Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Gresik Regency Education Office in the form of 3 (three) operational vehicle units as shuttle facilities for students with special needs. Located at the Gresik Regent's Office, the assistance was handed over by the Branch Manager of bankjatim Gresik, Abdullah Basid, and received directly by the Regent of Gresik, Fandi Akhmad Yani.
President Director of bankjatim, Busrul Iman, explained that through the operational vehicle assistance, it is hoped to ease the burden on parents of children with special needs, especially for Students with Disabilities (PDPD) who are economically disadvantaged. Furthermore, from a safety standpoint, PDPD are safer if a shuttle service is provided, as the psychology of children with special needs varies and tantrums can occur at any time. ”Additionally, with these operational vehicles, it is hoped to provide the best service for PDPD without them needing to worry about distance as a consideration for obtaining intervention services at the Special Needs Education Service UPT,” he explained.
Furthermore, Busrul also emphasized that bankjatim will continue to be committed to supporting the policies of the Gresik Regency Government. ”bankjatim will always take part in supporting the Gresik Regency Government to realize Gresik as an inclusive and disability-friendly regency. These aid vehicles will be used as transportation to facilitate shuttles for children with disabilities, so they can all obtain wider opportunities in accessing education, care, and the necessary assistance,” he stated.
On that occasion, Fandi Akhmad Yani appreciated bankjatim for the operational vehicle assistance, which is expected to start being used in early 2025. ”These vehicles will become part of the shuttle service for our special children. Hopefully, this program runs smoothly and the Resource Centre UPT becomes a leading facility in Gresik Regency in realizing an inclusive regency,” he said.
In addition to Gresik, on Thursday (19/12), bankjatim also provided CSR assistance to the Probolinggo City Government in the form of assistance for the construction of the middle corridor park on the south side of Probolinggo City Square. Located in the Command Center Room of the Probolinggo City Government, the CSR was symbolically handed over by the Director of Finance, Treasury & Global Services of bankjatim, Edi Masrianto, and received by the Acting Mayor of Probolinggo, M. Taufik Kurniawan.
Edi said there are several objectives for distributing the assistance for the City Square construction. These include beautifying the Square, which is a center of activity in the middle of the city and also a center for local cultural activities. It is also beneficial for increasing land cover, adding aesthetic value to increase the attractiveness of the City Square, and can enhance the economic value of the Probolinggo City Square Area through the movement of MSMEs within it.
According to Edi, the increasingly beautiful Probolinggo City Square will add comfort while increasing public visits. High visitation is believed to trigger economic activities and growth in Probolinggo. “If it becomes a good epicenter, people will surely come here comfortably. Thus, economic activities will automatically occur within it, and it is hoped that many people will also save at bankjatim as the economy grows. Therefore, hopefully, this cooperation with Probolinggo City can continue to be well-maintained in the future and provide positive benefits for both parties,” he added.
Meanwhile, M. Taufik Kurniawan expressed his deepest gratitude to bankjatim for the CSR program that can already be enjoyed by the public. He hoped this program would continue in the future. Because, besides being part of Probolinggo's face, the city square is also a public space that can be used multi-functionally, as a recreation place for the community and a people's economic center.
”We really hope that the beauty of Probolinggo City Square can also provide a positive impact for traders and other economic actors who depend on their livelihood in this city center. We want more visitors to come so they want to stay longer here, and automatically there will be economic circulation within it,” he said.
