SURABAYA, April 22, 2024. PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim) continues to support various programs promoted by the East Java Provincial Government. Including disability empowerment. Recently, the East Java Provincial Government through the East Java Social Service has inaugurated the Kinasih and UPT Disability Gallery (Gadisku) which is located in Surabaya.

The form of support provided by bankjatim is to support the empowerment of people with disabilities.

The form of support provided by bankjatim in these activities is to facilitate the opening of new accounts for people with disabilities. It was also an effort to encourage financial inclusiveness for the disabled community in the country. The handover of bankjatim accounts to people with disabilities was carried out symbolically by Pj. East Java Governor Adhy Karyono accompanied by the Head of East Java Social Services Restu Novi Widiani and bankjatim Compliance Director Umi Rodiyah on Monday (4/22).

Umi explained, the facilitation of opening this account is a form of bankjatim's real support in supporting the financial inclusion program for the disability community. Moreover, most people with disabilities are groups that have not been widely captured in the financial system. "So we must continue to encourage. Well, for people with disabilities who want to open a bankjatim account, now there is no need to bother anymore, because they can open an online account through JConnect PRO, "he said.

He hopes that through steps like this, people with disabilities can utilize a variety of banking products and services from bankjatim. In addition, with digital banking such as JConnect it can also help in increasing understanding of financial management. "So, through programs like this it can be an effort to accelerate more inclusive economic growth," said Umi.

On the other hand, Umi also said, bankjatim is very happy because currently the East Java Provincial Government has provided a place for people with disabilities called Gadisku. There are quite a lot of facilities in it. Such as massage & blind reflexology, disability cafe, angkringan, various kinds of handicrafts made by people with disabilities, and many more. "This way, these children with disabilities can further hone their abilities and creativity so that in the future they can develop stronger self-confidence," he said.

Meanwhile, Pj. Governor of East Java Adhy Karyono also said that the East Java Provincial Government pays great attention to people with disabilities. One of the real proofs is the inauguration of Gadisku. "This aims to provide space and opportunities for people with disabilities to display their work to the wider community. So here, people with disabilities are also trained and formed into entrepreneurs and introduced to financial inclusion such as saving money every time they get a product/service order. That way, they can be more independent," he explained.
