SURABAYA, July 26, 2024 – The East Java Provincial Government has officially awarded PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim) in the "Child-Friendly Business Entity" category. The award was presented during the peak celebration of East Java Province's 2024 National Children's Day, held at Hotel Novotel Samator Surabaya and handed over by Acting Governor of East Java, Adhy Karyono, to bankjatim’s Director of Micro, Retail & Medium Enterprises, R. Arief Wicaksono, on Friday (July 26).

Arief explained that bankjatim has consistently paid special attention to the children of East Java, particularly in the field of education. The bank has implemented numerous programs to improve children's quality of life, including regular scholarships for outstanding students, provision of educational infrastructure support, and stunting prevention programs.
“We are very grateful and thankful for this appreciation. We hope this award motivates bankjatim to continue initiating positive activities that make an even broader impact on society and the nation,” he said.

In addition, bankjatim actively encourages children in East Java to save money from an early age through the SimPel Savings (Student Savings) program. This savings account is designed specifically for students and comes with simple requirements and attractive features aimed at promoting financial literacy and inclusion, while cultivating a saving culture from an early age.
“We hope bankjatim can play a role in educating the nation’s future generations, turning saving into not just a responsibility, but a necessity—or even a lifestyle,” Arief added.

During the main event of National Children’s Day 2024 in East Java, bankjatim also contributed by providing developmental incentives for winners of various competitions, such as individual and group disability workshops, picture story anthology competitions, and more.
“We are committed to continuously participating in human resource development programs from an early age for a better future for Indonesian children,” Arief emphasized.

In line with the 2024 National Children’s Day theme, "Protected Children, Advanced Indonesia", Adhy Karyono stated that the event aimed to protect children from threats to their well-being.
“The overarching theme is child protection—protection from threats to their safety and development. This is key to ensuring that children can grow into the next generation of national leaders,” he said.

According to Adhy, the theme is essential in preparing children to welcome Indonesia Emas 2045 (Golden Indonesia 2045).
“There are nearly 10 million children in East Java, and they are the ones who will continue national development and become future leaders or public figures. The success of Indonesia Emas 2045 greatly depends on how well our children grow and develop today,” he explained.

On the same occasion, Adhy also launched the "Five Stops" movement for child protection, which includes:

  1. Stop stunting

  2. Stop bullying

  3. Stop child labor

  4. Stop children without identity cards

  5. Stop child marriage

“We must join hands to lead our children toward a better future. Every stakeholder must contribute to raising the standards of child protection so that our children are truly safeguarded for Indonesia Emas 2045,” he concluded.
