Pasuruan, December 5, 2024. At the peak commemoration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim) received an award from the East Java Provincial Government as a Regional-Owned Enterprise (BUMD) collaborating on the implementation of social programs in East Java. Held at the Expo Center Taman Dayu Pasuruan, the award was presented by the Acting Governor of East Java, Adhy Karyono, along with the Head of the East Java Provincial Social Services Department, Restu Novi Widiani, and was received by Bank Jatim’s Director of Risk Management, Eko Susetyono (5/12).
Eko expressed his deepest gratitude for the award given to bankjatim. According to him, bankjatim has provided many benefits to the community through the distribution of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) which is routinely carried out in various regions, not only in the surrounding Surabaya area but also to remote corners of East Java. This serves as the company's implementation of the principle that BJTM’s profits originate from the community and will certainly return to the community.
“Bankjatim’s CSR is implemented through a variety of social activities touching all sectors, ranging from education and the environment to health. This is because CSR is an investment by bankjatim to support the creation of sustainable development. Furthermore, the application of bankjatim's CSR program is also a form of implementation of the concept of Good Corporate Governance (GCG),” he explained.
Eko added that bankjatim is committed to always carrying out corporate social responsibility with the hope of continuing to contribute to community welfare and economic growth in East Java. “In addition, we highly appreciate this peak celebration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities in East Java because it is filled with many activities participated in by persons with disabilities. In this way, children with disabilities can further hone their abilities and creativity so that, in the future, a stronger sense of self-confidence can emerge,” he said.
Carrying the theme "Strengthening the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future," during the event, Adhy Karyono issued an appeal to the public, the business world, and everyone else to not only provide the widest possible access and opportunities to persons with disabilities but also to give them the opportunity to become leaders at all levels in various sectors. He emphasized that the capacity and ability of every person with disabilities is equal and equivalent to others.
“To provide equality, an improvement in facilities for persons with disabilities is required. That is why the East Java Provincial Government consistently strives to realize sustainable inclusive development through various programs. One such program is the Social Assistance for Persons with Disabilities (ASPD) with a total aid value of IDR 14.4 billion, targeting a priority of 4,000 people with severe disabilities. This ASPD consists of social assistance for the fulfillment of additional nutrition and therapy as an effort to increase the social welfare level of persons with disabilities whose degree of disability cannot be rehabilitated,” he concluded.
