JAKARTA, October 8, 2024 – PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (Bank Jatim) continues to carve out impressive achievements. Following its recognition at the 2023 Annual Report Award on Monday night (October 7), Bank Jatim has now received another prestigious accolade from one of Indonesia’s leading economic media outlets, CNBC. The award, Best Regional Banks for ESG Investing, was presented during the Road to CNBC Award 2024 event held at the CNBC Studio on Tuesday (October 8) and was accepted directly by Bank Jatim President Director, Busrul Iman.

Busrul explained that several factors led to Bank Jatim being recognized as the Best Regional Bank for ESG Investing. Among them, the bank was acknowledged as one of the top-performing regional banks in implementing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. Additionally, Bank Jatim has been included in the ESG Quality 45 Index (IDX KEHATI) and the ESG Sector Leaders Index (IDX KEHATI), which helped build a positive image among investors, particularly regarding ESG awareness and sustainable business practices.

“We extend our deepest gratitude to CNBC for this award. This achievement is the result of the hard work and dedication of all stakeholders—from shareholders, local governments, Jatimers (Bank Jatim employees), customers, to the wider community. We hope this recognition further fuels our spirit to contribute to the economic growth of East Java and Indonesia,” he stated.

This accomplishment further cements Bank Jatim’s position as a competitive, environmentally conscious regional development bank that actively contributes to sustainable development in both East Java and Indonesia. Busrul emphasized that Bank Jatim is committed to realizing sustainable finance initiatives through technology-based solutions as part of its green banking implementation. These include digital products such as e-forms, e-channels, and others.

Beyond digital banking products, Bank Jatim also practices green banking through operational efficiencies such as paper, water, and electricity savings, which are promoted and implemented across the entire workforce. Busrul highlighted the bank’s ongoing efforts to develop highly competent human resources through education and training, particularly related to sustainable finance.

“We have already implemented various ESG programs focused on environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and sound corporate governance. Our initiatives include preserving biodiversity and the environment, eco-friendly financing, improving community welfare, and reducing the carbon footprint from our operations. Bank Jatim is committed to supporting projects that contribute to environmental preservation, such as renewable energy and energy efficiency,” Busrul explained.

In terms of credit distribution, Bank Jatim also places strong emphasis on Environmental Impact Analysis (AMDAL) for large or high-risk businesses applying for loans. The bank integrates green banking practices into its digital products and services, such as e-channels and e-forms.

Bank Jatim has also developed a wide range of digital products, including JConnect, Jatim Kilat, Eloan, Agen Jatim, QRIS, BI Fast, E-TDP, Government Credit Cards (KKPD), Siskeudes, and Siskeudes Link. Through JConnect, Bank Jatim aims to provide comfort, commitment, collaboration, and financial connectivity to deliver digital banking services tailored to customer and community needs.

“We remain committed to being a bank that focuses not only on profit but also on environmental sustainability and social welfare. This award will drive Bank Jatim to work even harder moving forward,” Busrul concluded.
