Boosting Exports: Bank Jatim and the Ministry of Trade Sign a Strategic Cooperation Agreement.

SURABAYA, December 3, 2024. As a commitment to strengthening national exports, PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim) officially signed a cooperation agreement with the Secretariat of the Directorate General of National Export Development of the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia on Tuesday (3/12) during the Export Development Week event. The agreement focuses on enhancing the capacity of business actors, product development, and participation in trade promotions for export-oriented businesses to drive national export growth.
Held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Ballroom in Surabaya, the agreement was signed by bankjatim’s Director of Finance, Treasury & Global Services, Edi Masrianto, and the Secretary of the Directorate General of National Export Development, Muhammad Suaib Sulaiman. The ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, and bankjatim President Director, Busrul Iman.
Busrul stated that the scope of this agreement is extensive. It includes the implementation of capacity-building programs, product development, and participation in trade promotions through product development training, workshops, webinars, and business matching with potential foreign buyers, as well as participation in international trade fairs.
”Furthermore, we will conduct curation, monitoring, and evaluation of these capacity-building programs. We believe that synergy between the government and bankjatim will strengthen Indonesia's export ecosystem. With broader access to global markets, business actors can achieve sustainable growth, which is expected to contribute further to national economic growth,” he explained.
On the same day, an export dispatch for CV Cherry Blossom Indonesia was also conducted by the Minister of Trade and bankjatim’s Director of Finance, Edi Masrianto, in Gedangan, Sidoarjo.
According to Busrul, bankjatim is committed to continuously distributing financing to sectors with high export potential, revenue generation, and job creation. The bank remains consistent in fulfilling the government mandate to increase the competitiveness of national products. ”Export activities are a golden opportunity for business actors, including MSMEs, to access global markets and 'scale up' their businesses. Through this support, bankjatim hopes to help business actors become more confident and ready to market their products internationally,” Busrul emphasized.
Meanwhile, Minister of Trade Budi Santoso revealed that Export Development Week is a form of government commitment to strengthening the competitiveness of MSMEs. The event is an active effort by the Ministry of Trade to support MSMEs in becoming resilient exporters ready to face global challenges.
”We hope this activity provides benefits by opening access to information regarding export markets, especially for MSMEs. Through the 'UMKM BISA Ekspor' program, the Ministry encourages the transformation of MSMEs into reliable exporters. This program is designed to help MSMEs overcome export barriers, understand global markets, and seize international trade opportunities,” the Minister explained.
Director General of National Export Development Mardyana Listyowati added that Export Development Week not only supports MSME business growth through capacity building but also serves as a gateway for MSMEs to access a much wider market.
