SURABAYA, June 26, 2024 – PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim) and the East Java Regional Leadership of Muhammadiyah (PW Muhammadiyah Jawa Timur) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding financial service cooperation on Wednesday (June 26). The signing took place at the Semeru Room of the bankjatim Head Office and was conducted by President Director of bankjatim Busrul Iman and Chairman of PW Muhammadiyah East Java Sukadiono. Also present as witnesses were bankjatim Director of Finance, Treasury & Global Services Edi Masrianto and bankjatim Director Umi Rodiyah.

Busrul explained that the planned cooperation outlined in the MoU includes the placement of funds by PW Muhammadiyah East Java, including those of its Muhammadiyah Business Entities (AUM) in bankjatim. It also involves the facilitation of various banking services such as credit/financing and bank account services to support AUMs in conducting banking transactions.
“There is a lot of potential to be developed through this MoU. One example is the potential increase in Third Party Funds (TPF), particularly in savings, checking, and deposit accounts from AUMs in East Java,” he stated.

In addition, there is also potential to increase fee-based income through the application of Virtual Accounts (VA) for payments via bankjatim's e-channels from AUMs operating in the education and healthcare sectors. Busrul added that there is significant opportunity for multipurpose loans, working capital financing, and investment loans for PW Muhammadiyah members and AUMs across East Java. This is supported by the fact that the number of AUMs in the province is substantial — reaching 2,468 entities.

With the MoU in place, services for AUMs and Muhammadiyah members will be more optimized, covering financing, funding, and other banking services.
“Our Syariah Business Unit has prepared a wide range of Islamic banking products for AUMs, whether they operate in education, healthcare, or other sectors. We believe this business synergy will benefit both parties. Moreover, Muhammadiyah and bankjatim share the same vision — to serve the community and promote a sharia-based system for shared blessings,” Busrul explained.

On the same occasion, Sukadiono expressed his deepest appreciation to bankjatim for this MoU signing. He emphasized that Muhammadiyah is always open to collaborating with any party, including bankjatim, to improve public welfare and advance society.
“This is concrete proof of the synergy between PW Muhammadiyah East Java and bankjatim in the areas of financing and other partnerships for AUMs in the region. We hope this collaboration will further boost community productivity,” he concluded.
