JAKARTA, December 13, 2024. PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim) has once again recorded a brilliant achievement. This time, the Sharia Business Unit (UUS) of bankjatim successfully won three awards simultaneously from the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) during the 2024 BPKH Collection Partner Annual Meeting and Awarding event on Friday night (13/12).
The awards earned were:
-
1st Place for Best Young Hajj Registrant (BPD-UUS category).
-
2nd Place for Best Hajj Registrant (BPD-UUS category).
-
Best Second Semester Achievement Reward for Umrah (BPD category).
Held at the Sheraton Grand Jakarta Hotel, the awards were received by bankjatim’s Director of Compliance, Umi Rodiyah, in an event also attended by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar.
Umi explained that these achievements signify bankjatim's seriousness in serving Hajj registrations through its Sharia unit across its entire office network and Sharia service points. ”We deeply appreciate and thank BPKH for the recognition and trust placed in bankjatim, particularly in UUS as a banking partner for receiving Hajj deposits. This award also serves as an inspiration for us to constantly innovate and provide the best Sharia banking services to the community,” she said.
Umi further elaborated that UUS bankjatim currently offers a diverse range of Sharia banking products and services to meet customer transaction needs, especially Hajj savings services. ”We sincerely hope that the collaboration between BPKH and UUS bankjatim can provide the best service for prospective Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. This collaboration aims to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of Hajj fund management and provide convenience for the people of East Java in traveling to the Holy Land,” she explained.
Currently, UUS bankjatim is also aggressively promoting the "Haji Muda" (Young Hajj) movement for the millennial generation. Through this movement, young people can develop mature financial planning. ”Anyone is allowed to dream of anything, including the dream of performing Hajj at a young age. So, do not be afraid because Bank Jatim will always provide support,” Umi asserted.
To make it easier for millennials to prepare for Hajj, UUS Bank Jatim offers the Tabungan Haji iB Amanah product. This is an IDR-denominated savings account managed under Sharia principles using the Mudharabah Mutlaqah contract. It serves as a means to secure a regular Hajj portion through either flexible or monthly deposit systems. One of its main advantages is that the process of obtaining a Hajj portion number is easier because UUS Bank Jatim is connected online with SISKOHAT (Integrated Hajj Computerized Information System).
Meanwhile, the Head of BPKH, Fadlul Imansyah, emphasized the importance of innovation in Sharia financial services to simplify the Hajj registration process. According to him, the long queues of pilgrims represent both an opportunity and a challenge for the Hajj ecosystem. ”According to 2023 BPS data, there are 17 million out of 210 million Indonesian Muslims who meet the requirements to perform Hajj. However, only 0.31 percent have registered as prospective pilgrims,” he noted.
From a business perspective, this is a large market for banking partners to manage. However, the Hajj queue, which has reached 5.4 million people, has extended the waiting time to 25–30 years. ”This is what we need to find solutions for—to help Indonesian Muslims fulfill the fifth pillar of Islam through Sharia banking products and services. BPKH remains committed to presenting financial service innovations through a seamless process for initial Hajj deposits to make them easier, faster, more transparent, and secure," Fadlul concluded.
