Bank Jatim Revitalizes SWK Pinghay, Now More Comfortable and Well-Organized

SURABAYA, July 18, 2024 – The Sentra Wisata Kuliner (SWK) Pinghay, which has been revitalized by PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim), was officially inaugurated on Thursday (July 18). The event was attended by Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi, bankjatim President Director Busrul Iman, bankjatim Director of Micro, Retail, and Medium Businesses R. Arief Wicaksono, and bankjatim Director of Operations Arif Suhirman.
In his speech, Busrul expressed bankjatim's gratitude for being given the opportunity to contribute to the revitalization of SWK Pinghay, so that both traders and visitors can now enjoy more comfortable transactions. According to him, the revitalization has had many positive impacts, including improving the urban landscape of Surabaya and improving the living standards of the traders.
"As we can all see, Pinghay has now been transformed into a very beautiful and neat area. Moreover, it has also been equipped with QRIS from bankjatim, allowing customers to make cashless payments for any food or drinks – it's very practical," he said.
With the presence of QRIS, Busrul added, it is expected that the turnover at Pinghay will be higher than before. This is because with QRIS, the sales and taxes collected can be easily monitored.
Busrul also emphasized that bankjatim is always ready to support the programs of the Surabaya City Government. In addition to SWK Pinghay, bankjatim also aims to enliven various tourist destinations in Surabaya by organizing events. This way, bankjatim's presence can be continuously felt by the people of Surabaya and East Java.
"This event marks a significant change for SWK Pinghay, which now offers a more comfortable and well-organized dining atmosphere, far from the shabby image it once had. We hope that the good cooperation with the Surabaya City Government continues and contributes to improving the economic status of the community," he explained.
During the event, Eri Cahyadi added that the revitalization was not just about improving the physical appearance but also aimed at increasing the traders' income through higher turnover and more visitors. Before the revitalization, the condition of SWK Pinghay was quite concerning, with poorly organized areas and a messy appearance.
However, with the improvements made, such as the renovation of stalls, reorganization of parking areas, and the addition of mosque facilities, SWK Pinghay has now been completely transformed into a more suitable and attractive dining destination. "I hope that in the future, SWK Pinghay can become a success story that can be replicated in other places," said Eri.
For your information, the name Pinghay is an abbreviation of Pinggiran Hyatt (the local name for Hotel Bumi Surabaya). SWK Pinghay, located in the heart of Surabaya, has a very strategic location, surrounded by office buildings, shopping centers, and hotels.
With all the improvements and organization carried out by bankjatim, it is hoped that SWK Pinghay will become a new attraction for the residents of Surabaya as well as visitors from outside the city. The inauguration also included the symbolic handover of prizes to traders at Pinghay who achieved the highest QRIS transactions.
