KUPANG, November 5, 2024. PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim) continues to reinforce its Bank Business Group (KUB) by partnering with several Regional Development Banks (BPD) across Indonesia. Following successful commitments with Bank NTB Syariah, Bank Lampung, and Bank Banten, Bank NTT has officially joined the KUB framework with bankjatim. This milestone was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the Business Cooperation Plan and the Formation of a Bank Business Group, in compliance with OJK Regulation No. 12/POJK.03/2020, on Tuesday (5/11). Additionally, on the same day, both banks executed a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) regarding Information Exchange for the KUB initiative.
Held at the Bank NTT Head Office, the signing ceremony was attended by bankjatim President Director Busrul Iman, Director of Finance, Treasury & Global Services Edi Masrianto, Director of IT & Digital Zulhelfi Abidin, and bankjatim Independent Commissioners Muhammad Mas’ud and Sumaryono. Representing Bank NTT were Acting President Director Yohanis Landu Praing and Independent Commissioner Frans Gana.
Busrul explained that bankjatim remains open to synergy and collaboration within the KUB framework to drive the BPD industry toward becoming a large and formidable financial group. ”We are committed to continuous synergy to support business growth and develop potential regional sectors, which is expected to bolster local economies,” he stated.
Busrul noted that Bank NTT is the fourth bank to commit to a KUB with bankjatim. Following the MoU and NDA, bankjatim will concurrently conduct feasibility studies, seek KUB approval through a General Meeting of Shareholders (RUPS), and prepare the necessary legal agreements.
Parallel to the legal process, banking synergies will be initiated immediately. These include BI Fast transactions, regional tax and retribution collection services, credit financing, and the development of digital services. Busrul emphasized that these collaborations can begin without waiting for the KUB to become legally effective, allowing the public to feel the positive impact of the synergy sooner.
”Collaboration is the most vital element for BPDs to innovate and transform in order to compete in the banking industry. bankjatim is ready to share its experience and knowledge as a pioneer BPD in executing strategic steps and corporate actions,” Busrul added.
As the largest BUMD in East Java, bankjatim’s experience is invaluable for the growth of other BPDs. As of the third quarter of 2024, bankjatim’s assets reached IDR 106.63 trillion, with credit disbursement totaling IDR 62.19 trillion (a 20.13% YoY increase). ”Our active participation in the KUB framework positions the company as having strong business, financial, and human capital foundations,” he remarked.
Yohanis Landu Praing expressed his gratitude to bankjatim for the opportunity to build the nation's economy together. ”We hope the benefits of this KUB extend beyond capital participation and inorganic asset growth to include business synergy across all lines, such as infrastructure resources and the development of skills and knowledge,” he explained.
Frans Gana further clarified that the OJK has given special attention to regional banks through the KUB scheme to enhance competitiveness. He noted that Bank NTT’s previous KUB discussions with Bank DKI had faced obstacles, leading the bank to swiftly enter negotiations with bankjatim. ”We have held several meetings with bankjatim leading up to today’s signing. We hope this synergy yields positive impacts for the welfare and economy of the people in NTT,” he concluded.
