GRESIK, May 13, 2024. In order to expand business and strengthen the synergy of business actors, PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim) has just collaborated with PT Berkah Kawasan Manyar Sejahtera (manager of Java Integrated Industrial and Ports Estate or JIIPE) through the signing of an MoU on financial services. Located in JIIPE, the signing of the MoU was carried out by bankjatim President Director Busrul Iman and President Director of PT Berkah Kawasan Manyar Sejahtera Bambang Soetiono S. and Finance Director of PT Berkah Kawasan Manyar Sejahtera Ifan Johar Kuswahyudi on Monday (13/5). Also present to witness the signing was Pj. East Java Governor Adhy Karyono, Gresik Regent Fandi Akhmad Yani, bankjatim Director of Finance, Treasury & Global Services Edi Masrianto, bankjatim Director of Micro, Retail and Medium R. Arief Wicaksono, bankjatim Director of IT & Digital Zulhelfi Abidin, and bankjatim Director of Risk Management Eko Susetyono.

Busrul explained, as is well known, PT Berkah Kawasan Manyar Sejahtera is the manager of JIIPE which is located in the Special Economic Zone (KEK) Gresik, East Java. JIIPE is the first integrated area in Indonesia with a total area of 3,000 hectares. Which consists of an industrial area, multifunctional public port, and residential with an independent city concept. In addition, JIIPE has also been designated as an Indonesian KEK by the President of the Republic of Indonesia in 2021. JIIPE as an Indonesian KEK is a national strategic project that answers the needs of industry 4.0. Because, in the area there is superior connectivity with multimodal transportation, connected deep sea ports, complete one-stop utilities, as well as environmental permits and fast construction permits.

“So this cooperation is a form of strong business development between bankjatim and PT Berkah Kawasan Manyar Sejahtera as well as bankjatim's commitment in providing integrated and innovative financial solutions for its customers. We are ready to synergize with PT Berkah Kawasan Manyar Sejahtera in terms of fund placement and financial services. Hopefully with the signing of this MoU, strategic cooperation can be realized so that it can further strengthen the business of both parties, “said Busrul.

According to him, the thing that distinguishes bankjatim with other banks is that bankjatim is the bank of the people of East Java. So, by supporting bankjatim means also supporting the Provincial Government and Regency / City Government. Because, the benefits obtained by bankjatim can automatically add to the regional budget and the economy of the people of East Java. “Therefore, we really hope that this cooperation will not only stop here. But it can be further developed according to the needs of PT Berkah Kawasan Manyar Sejahtera in the future,” added Busrul. Aside from the placement of funds and financial services, bankjatim's cooperation plan with PT Berkah Kawasan Manyar Sejahtera is the opening and placement of banking service offices and the operation of bankjatim service offices to manage funds within PT Berkah Kawasan Manyar Sejahtera in accordance with applicable regulations in Gresik SEZ.

Meanwhile, Bambang Soetiono S. said that his party really welcomed this cooperation. He hopes that the synergy that has been well established so far can be further increased and open up other wider cooperation opportunities. “For information, the integration of JIIPE facilities, strategic location, and KEK status will encourage the achievement of government targets to reduce logistics and other operational costs and make Indonesia an attractive investment destination. Therefore, with this MoU, hopefully it can further make the JIIPE Region grow even faster, “he said.

Bambang explained, in 2023, the JIIPE area managed to become the number one best area in Indonesia, beating the Kendal industrial area. KEK Gresik or JIIPE has received a target from the government in 5 years, since 2021, it must be able to absorb investment of 7 billion USD or around Rp 100 trillion more. While the absorption of investment realized until now has reached Rp 75 trillion. “There is still a shortage of around IDR 30 trillion and we still have 2 years to go. We are optimistic that the target from the government can be achieved. Now we are also close deals with several Chinese companies, there are 3 Chinese companies that are close and hopefully we can invest up to Rp 20 trillion,” he said.

Not only that. In terms of employment, to date about 35 thousand people have been absorbed. The government's target, continued Bambang, is that until 2036 the absorption of labor can reach 200 thousand. “That's a pretty big number. Therefore, we really hope that the people around Gresik, Lamongan, and Tuban in the future will no longer be unemployed because they can work at JIIPE. We hope that JIIPE can continue to contribute to advancing the economy in East Java and Indonesia, “said Bambang.

Adhy Karyono also added, his party is very grateful that finally now JIIPE has collaborated with bankjatim regarding financial services. The existence of this collaboration also emphasizes that bankjatim is ready to provide funding support for the development of the JIIPE Region. “bankjatim is the bank of the provincial government, district / city government, and also the bank of the people of East Java. So inevitably we have to advance bankjatim together. Bankjatim's own assets are already Rp 100.8 trillion. So we hope in the midst of tremendous banking competition, bankjatim can continue to be responsive. In addition to handling the government's captive market such as APBD, ASN credit, and so on, now it must also be able to enter the industry so that the contribution to economic growth can be even greater, “he said.

According to Adhy, through this MoU it is hoped that it can strengthen the ecosystem in the JIIPE area so that investment can increase and become the most comfortable investment in East Java. Because, the convenience of investing is an important factor to attract investors. From every trillion of investment generated, it will have an impact on employment and the real sector. But what should not be forgotten is that the increase in Human Resources (HR) must also be in line with high employment. “Technology in the future will certainly be different. So our human resources must also be able to upgrade by means of links and matches to cooperation with universities so that later we can create superior human resources. Hopefully in the future investment in East Java and JIIPE can run well,” he said.
