MADIUN, October 30, 2024. In a dedicated effort to enhance the welfare of sugarcane farmers, PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk (bankjatim), in collaboration with PG Rajawali I, conducted a mass credit agreement execution on Thursday (31/10). Held at the Nawasena Garden Resto & Ballroom in Madiun, the large-scale loan signing ceremony involved 78 sugarcane farmers and was attended by bankjatim’s Director of Micro, Retail, and Medium Business, R. Arief Wicaksono; President Director of PG Rajawali I, Daniyanto; and PG Rajawali I’s Director of Finance and Business Support, Subhan Kurniawan.

Arief explained that as part of the bank's strategy to expand corporate partnerships and support national food security—specifically within the sugar industry—bankjatim is committed to providing streamlined financial access for farmers. “In this initiative, bankjatim provides capital support to retail and micro-segment sugarcane farmers mentored by PG Redjoagung. With a total disbursement of IDR 24 billion to 78 debtors, we aim to empower these farmers to increase their productivity and improve both the quantity and quality of their yields,” he elaborated.

Furthermore, Arief emphasized that this partnership reflects bankjatim’s commitment to improving the livelihoods of sugarcane farmers in East Java by providing broader access to financial facilities that ensure business growth and sustainability. This partnership is expected to not only support farmers in the short term but also contribute to the long-term resilience of the national sugar industry. “With easier and more flexible financing, we expect farmers to optimize their harvest productivity, ultimately strengthening national food security and supporting future sugar self-sufficiency goals,” he added.

In addition to direct financing, Arief noted that this step is part of bankjatim’s broader strategy to expand the agricultural ecosystem through digitalization and financial service innovation. “We recognize that the agricultural sector holds immense potential for driving national economic growth. Through digitalization and strategic partnerships like this one with PG Rajawali I, we continue to strive toward creating an inclusive and sustainable ecosystem where farmers have seamless access to financing tailored to their specific needs via bankjatim,” he stated.

During the event, Subhan Kurniawan expressed his sincere appreciation for the ongoing synergy with bankjatim. He voiced his hope that this cooperation would simplify the financing process for farmers while providing them with added value to increase their income. “We hope this endeavor will optimize sugar production in East Java and ultimately realize national food self-sufficiency, particularly in the sugar sector. We look forward to continuing this collaboration for the economic advancement of East Java and Indonesia,” he concluded.
